The Institute conducts scientific research to improve both oral and systemic health, aiming to address patient problems and, through a biological study process, return with more effective solutions.
Research at the Istituto Stomatologico Toscano is both a prerequisite and a natural extension of clinical activity, always focused on enhancing patient outcomes.
The Institute's research is primarily applied, aimed at finding practical and applicable solutions for everyday clinical practice. Its goal is not the evolution of theoretical knowledge but rather the translation of theoretical knowledge into clinical protocols. For this reason, it is often directed towards the world of industry and production.
For over 20 years, research has also served innovation and progress in the industry, which must draw inspiration for innovation and qualitative improvement of its products from clinical activity. Research is not just about advancing scientific debate and curiosity, but also about deeply participating in the process of knowledge and development of new techniques and technologies.
For this reason, the Istituto Stomatologico Toscano combines experimental research with a vibrant clinical research activity, carried out through the design and implementation of clinical studies, thanks to integration with a network of satellite dental centres.
The research topics developed within the mission of the Institute are attributable to three main lines of research, while remaining open to any scientific inquiry needs:
Over 20 years, the Institute’s research has produced a significant number of scientific publications in leading international journals, with substantial contributions that have allowed some of the Institute’s researchers to rank among the top experts in their fields on an international level.
The extensive volume of work carried out means that many of the Institute’s researchers and clinicians are frequently invited to present their experiences and research at major international conferences.
